Safe processing of dispersion water-based paints

Why consistent paint quality is crucial throughout the entire process

Today, product packaging has to do more than just protect. It conveys brands, attracts attention and often decides in seconds whether to buy or not. Color, surface and processing play a central role in this.

What is often underestimated:
The quality of the packaging begins long before the actual printing - namely with the coating.

Inline painting - quality without interruption

The Schumacher Packaging GmbH is one of the technology leaders in the packaging industry and covers the entire process right through to final printing.

Inline painting is a crucial step in this process:
The lacquer is applied directly during the production process - without separate post-processing.

This brings clear advantages:

  • Higher efficiency
  • Consistent processes
  • Consistent quality

At the same time, however, the demands on the stability of the paint condition are increasing considerably.

The challenge - paint only remains constant through movement

Dispersion water-based paints are sensitive media. They change after storage in the delivery container:

  • Components settle
  • Homogeneity is lost
  • Processing properties change

Without targeted stirring, uniform coating quality in the printing process cannot be guaranteed.

This is particularly critical for inline processes:
There is no „buffer“ here - the paint must have exactly the required properties at all times.

The solution - continuously homogeneous, reliable in the process

On the recommendation of an existing customer, the Forchheim plant of Schumacher Packaging GmbH opted for an IBC container agitator from PTM mechatronics GmbH.

The requirements were clear:

  • Gentle, continuous agitation
  • Reliable homogeneity throughout the entire process
  • Flexible use for different IBC sizes

The agitator used fulfills exactly these points:

  • Suitable for 600 l and 1,000 l IBCs
  • Stable attachment via a stainless steel crossbar
  • Designed for different media - from low-viscosity to demanding

The result:
The dispersion water-based coating retains its original properties - and the quality of the printing process remains consistently high.

Process reliability that becomes visible

What happens in the mixing container is later reflected on the packaging:
uniform surfaces, stable processing and safe further processing in downstream steps.

A stable paint condition is therefore not a detail - but a prerequisite for reproducible quality.

Conclusion - quality begins in the detail

Whether inline or offline process:
Anyone who processes paints must have their properties under control at all times. A reliable stirring system ensures that this is achieved - continuously, gently and reliably.
