Direction of rotation

As the definition of the direction of rotation of a motor as anticlockwise or clockwise depends on which side the motor is viewed from, there is a guideline for this. The guideline DIN EN 60034-8 VDE 0530-8:2014-10 Rotating electrical machines deals with connection designations and the direction of rotation in Part 8. Although the DIN relates to electrical machines, the principle can be applied to all rotating machines.

Emulsify

Emulsification is a sub-category of liquid-liquid dispersion. At least two substances that are not normally soluble in each other are mixed together. Long-term stable dispersions are called emulsions. Read more about liquid-liquid dispersion here:

FDA

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the national authority for food and drugs in the USA. It sets strict requirements for the production of food and medicines and regulates their approval for the US market. It fulfills the tasks that are carried out in Germany by the Food and Drug Administration. Because the FDA's rules also apply to [...]

Ferrite-free

Ferrite is a term for a solid solution that consists almost entirely of iron and a small proportion of carbon. It occurs as a structural component, i.e. as part of the structural composition of steel and cast iron. A key characteristic is its special atomic structure. This gives it certain properties, such as relatively low hardness, increased susceptibility to rust and [...]

Mixing solids

Solids mixing is the mixing of one or more solid components such as powders or granulates (bulk materials). The process is often used in the ceramics, raw materials, building materials, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, animal feed and food industries. Examples include the production of tea blends, dry soups, muesli, fertilizers or pigments. Solid blending is not a conversion of substances. Rather, the aim is to [...]

IP67 and IP68

The IP protection class indicates how well an electrical device, such as a smartphone, is protected against the ingress of foreign bodies. This includes protection against both solids and liquids.

Vane motor

The vane motor is a mechanical drive that converts the pressure of an incoming gas or liquid into a rotary movement. It is used in pneumatics and hydraulics. An eccentrically mounted rotor with movable vanes rotates in a fixed housing, the stator. The vanes move radially outwards and close the space [...]

Food safe

Materials used for the production or packaging of food are subject to special requirements. They must be non-toxic and must not alter the taste or smell of the food they come into contact with. Materials that meet these criteria are called food-safe. This includes all materials that come into contact with food during production, transportation and as kitchen accessories. Packaging that protects against dirt and germs is made from various materials such as plastics, paper, cardboard, rubber and degradable cellophane films.
