Homogenization is the mixing of several components into a uniform, homogeneous phase. It is probably the most important task of stirring technology. A good stirring result is achieved when the same concentration of the individual components is present at every point in the container.
Homogenization is a process that is used in many industries:
Pharmacy:
In the pharmaceutical industry in particular, it is important to obtain reliably homogeneous mixtures. Even the smallest quantity of medication must have the same mixture of ingredients.
Food
In the food industry, homogenized milk is certainly the best-known product example. Here, the fat components must be evenly crushed and distributed. However, the homogenization process is also used in chocolate production, the manufacture of flavours or beverages.
Cosmetics
In the cosmetics industry, the quality of products depends largely on a reliable homogenization process. In the case of textures such as creams, make-up or lipsticks, the contents must be homogenized to a high quality for purely visual reasons and due to their intended use.
Chemical industry
In the chemical industry, the predominant examples of homogenization are the production of varnishes, paints, fillers, lubricants and adhesives.
Depending on the area of application, the agitators used are designed differently in terms of performance, dimensions and component selection. The size of the agitator tank, viscosity of the ingredients and the possible existence of a special environment (ATEX, clean room, hygiene regulations) are taken into account.
