The case study
Loba GmbH & Co. KG is an internationally operating family company with its core business in the areas of design, finishing and maintenance of wooden and parquet floors. Loba works with different liquids, such as oils, detergents, primers and many more. Of course, stirring technology plays an important role here.
The requirements were as follows:
- three lifting stations with agitators for 200 liter drums
- stainless-steel cap with ¾ lids and viewing flaps
- suction lances with subsequent filling station for the filling of small containers
- central control unit
So far so good. However, there were a few challenges to overcome:
Highly viscous media – possible with a powerful drive
The medium to be stirred is highly viscous and has a very high density. A challenge for most drives. In particular, electric and vane motors, as high-speed motors with low torque, can only provide this performance with a gearbox. Our radial piston motors, on the other hand, always work with very high torque. After a few tests, our 32Nm drive turned out to be the right one. With its 32Nm it is in the mid-range of the PTM drive range and glides smoothly through even the most viscous substances such as adhesives, fillers, highly viscous food masses, heavy oils and other highly viscous media.
Handle different container sizes easily
The containers at Loba all hold 200 liters, but they are of different heights. The lifting stations must therefore automatically adapt to the respective height of the container. We achieved this with a special circuit that ensures that the lifting stations reliably stop at container height.
Security also had to be met. The agitators must not start stirring before the system is completely closed. They receive the signal via the circuit that the cap are closed and only then they begin the stirring process. Conversely, the agitators are switched off immediately when the cap is lifted.
The central control maintains an overview
The three stations are controlled in a practical and time-saving manner via a central control unit. All three components of the stirring stations can be regulated collectively via the controller: the agitators, the lifting stations and the pumps – all on one display. In this way, Loba always has an overview of the system in its entirety.
Customer-specific filling concepts make the process easier
For the small container sizes from two to ten liters, Loba required a specially designed filling system. The result of our development is a system with pump nozzles similar to a petrol station pump. A special trick is that the filling nozzles can be inserted into the caps of the containers after filling. Excess liquid simply drips back into the container, not a drop is lost and the environment remains clean. Functional and practical.
