Power failure - a real-life example
Imagine you are standing in a large bakery. A conveyor belt pushes fine pastries through the oven. The delicious smell of breakfast fills your nose. And then... the lights go out, the machines shut down, the conveyor belts suddenly stop. Nothing works anymore...power failure.
What happens to the good baked goods now? The electrically operated conveyor belts for the baked goods, as well as all other power-dependent appliances and machines, no longer move. The residual heat from the oven causes the baked goods to burn and stew in the trays. Not only the good smell and the delicious baked goods are gone, but also the trays. And unfortunately, this is exactly what happened in practice.
How the PTM air motor continues to work
Our air motors can be real helpers in times of power failure. Because:
Our air motors can still carry out important activities or safety processes via a compressed air reservoir when everything else has already come to a standstill. All you need is an economical and powerful PTM air motor with a compressed air tank. An electromagnetic valve with spring return automatically opens the tank as soon as the magnetism is interrupted by the power failure.
Our air motors can therefore open and close safety hatches, flaps and valves or supply lines, paths and gates in the event of power failures, drive conveyor belts, move loads and much more. Processes can be stopped or secured. During our power failure in the bakery, the motor could have driven the conveyor belts completely without electricity until all the baked goods had been removed from the oven.
In such emergency situations, another advantage of our air motors comes into play: they can be loaded to a standstill. This means that our motors can, for example, close safety devices completely and then simply stop without having to be switched off manually. They then consume no more energy and cannot overheat.
This is also very important for safety precautions in the event of a fire, as nobody has to return to switch off the motors.
