Occupational safety has been the focus of the working world for several years now. Every accident in which a person is injured is one too many.

Occupational safety is therefore always a top priority in the development of our products. Where can dangerous situations arise, where do machines pose a safety hazard? As a guide in the area of Stirring technology serve us here the „Safety requirements for stand and suspended agitators“ of the DGUV.

The DGUV comments: „There is currently no European harmonized work equipment-specific standard for stand mixers and suspended mixers. However, as agitators with very different safety levels are available on the market, safety concepts have been developed in an exchange of experience between manufacturers, operators, employers“ liability insurance associations and associations, which do not offer incentives to bypass protective devices and ensure safe machines according to the state of the art." Here are the possible hazardous situations according to the DGUV and our solution:

1. protective devices against hazards from the mixing element / protective devices against hazards from rotating agitator shaft:

Our stand mixers are equipped with a lid combined with our eco-Start safety system as standard. A sensor ensures that the agitator only starts when the lid of the agitator rests on the agitator container. This effectively prevents reaching into moving parts.

2. container lid with addition opening

Our lids can be fitted with an access flap. In this case, we secure the opening with a safety grid.

3. minimum control requirements for existing machines

Our stand mixers are equipped with a two-hand control that cannot be tampered with. The control unit also has an easily accessible emergency stop.

In addition: Our stands exert pressure when placed on the lid. This automatically fixes the mixing bowl in place and prevents it from tipping horizontally. In addition, the surrounding rim on the lid helps to hold the container in place.

Sometimes the implementation of the above conditions leads to conflicts with the mixing task. For example, the container should remain open or the feed flap should not be closed by a grid. Here we can install an access-safe area with safety fences and sensors to make the 100% agitator safe anyway.
