When energy becomes a luxury good -
Tannpapier switches to PTM agitators
Rising energy costs are no longer just a future concern—they are a reality in everyday production. Anyone who wants to remain competitive today must consistently capitalize on opportunities for savings. This is exactly the step Tannpapier GmbH, based in Traun (Austria), is taking: switching from traditional vane drives to energy-efficient agitators from PTM mechatronics GmbH.
The application
Tannpapier produces specialty paper that is processed with low-viscosity, solvent-based printing inks. These are continuously stirred in 50 barrels of 150 liters each - a classic but energy-intensive process.
After a test run under real conditions, the decision was quickly made:
The previous lamella agitators are gradually being replaced by PTM agitators with the eco-Seal 450 drive .
The aim is to reduce energy consumption, stabilize processes and reduce costs in the long term.
More than just energy efficiency
In addition to the pure savings, other factors were decisive for the changeover:
- Reliable, reproducible stirring results
- Safe use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX)
- Robust, low-maintenance technology
- Sound, practical advice
Especially in solvent-based applications, the combination of ATEX safety and efficient operation is a decisive advantage.
