Dual-handle operation<\/span><\/h1>\n

Two-hand operation is a safety-relevant control unit that ensures that a machine or system can only be started up if the operator places both hands on two separately arranged actuating elements at the same time. This principle prevents one hand from being in the danger zone of the machine while the start impulse is triggered.<\/p>\n

The aim of two-hand operation is to protect operating personnel from crushing, cutting or other mechanical injuries when starting automated or powerful processes. The requirements for design, safety distance, synchronization and resetting behaviour are defined in the standards EN ISO 13851<\/a> (formerly EN 574) and EN ISO 12100<\/a> are defined. Among other things, these standards regulate the minimum distances between the buttons in order to prevent one-handed operation, as well as the required simultaneity of actuation.<\/p>\n
