In Part 1 of “The Controllability of Stirring Processes” we dealt with the question of why stirring processes have to be controlled at all. Not read it yet? You can find the first part here.

In Part 2, we would like to show what control options there are and when which options can be used. Particular attention should be paid to their use in ATEX zones. You can get an overview of the ATEX zones in advance here.

Speed indicator

This speed indicator is the simplest, most uncomplicated and certainly the cheapest way to keep an eye on the stirring process and to regulate it accordingly.

While you can read the exact actual speed on the speed display, you regulate the speed using the needle valve on the motor until you have reached your optimum speed. If the conditions in the container change that affect the set speed (e.g. higher viscosities or higher filling levels), you can easily readjust. Ready!

It should be noted that this speed indicator is not suitable for use in ATEX zones.

Speed indicator ATEX zone 2

This stand-alone speed indicator is suitable for applications in ATEX zones. It can be used in ATEX Zone 2. You make this possible by placing the stand-alone device a little further away from the stirring application. The stand-alone device can be easily attached to suitable surfaces using the foot.

The related power box is located outside the ATEX area.

Speed control non-ATEX and
ATEX zone 1

This device allows you to preset the speed to a specific value. If the conditions in the container now change, e.g. due to a change in viscosity or the filling level, the controller automatically adjusts the speed to the presetting. This saves you manual adjustments and continuously guarantees the same stirring quality.

This speed control is available in two versions: non-ATEX and certified for ATEX Zone 1.

Speed control for agitators

Here we have now presented the three options for simple process control for different ATEX zones.

Your application will be really smart with comprehensive intelligent control. Check and regulate your speed conveniently via the touchscreen. With up to 100 preset recipes, you can set the speed and mixing time for different applications in advance. Then activate your programs simply by touch. In this way, you can specify entire stirring cycles with varying speeds and stirring times. No more manual setting, no more waiting.

In our part 3 of “The Controllability of Stirring Processes” we will soon present this smart type of control in detail. Don’t feel like waiting? Then let our experts advise you without obligation.
