Vyskytuje se jako strukturn\u00ed slo\u017eka, tj. jako sou\u010d\u00e1st strukturn\u00edho slo\u017een\u00ed oceli a litiny. Kl\u00ed\u010dovou charakteristikou je jeho zvl\u00e1\u0161tn\u00ed atomov\u00e1 struktura. Ta mu prop\u016fj\u010duje ur\u010dit\u00e9 vlastnosti, jako je relativn\u011b n\u00edzk\u00e1 tvrdost, zv\u00fd\u0161en\u00e1 n\u00e1chylnost ke korozi a magnetizace.<\/p>\n<p>V metalografii se atomov\u00e1 struktura ozna\u010duje jako f\u00e1ze, jedna z n\u011bkolika mo\u017en\u00fdch modifikac\u00ed \u017eeleza. Ferit se tedy vlivem magnetick\u00e9ho pole st\u00e1v\u00e1 magnetick\u00fdm. Z tohoto d\u016fvodu nejsou sou\u010d\u00e1stky obsahuj\u00edc\u00ed ferit vhodn\u00e9 pro aplikace s magnetick\u00fdm polem. Nap\u0159\u00edklad zobrazov\u00e1n\u00ed magnetickou rezonanc\u00ed (MRI) je zalo\u017eeno na detekci jemn\u00fdch sign\u00e1l\u016f magnetick\u00e9 rezonance v siln\u00e9m vn\u011bj\u0161\u00edm magnetick\u00e9m poli za \u00fa\u010delem v\u00fdpo\u010dtu trojrozm\u011brn\u00e9ho obrazu analyzovan\u00e9ho objektu.
